Wings For Christ Address the High Cost of Training

Wings for Christ Northwest is a new aviation ministry in Washington State, offering partially subsidized flight training to individuals called to Missionary Aviation, but held back by the high cost. Our goal is to enable these missionaries to enter the field without incurring debt, enabling them to serve more efficiently.

Tom Moser with Wings For Christ NorthwestLocated at the Waterville, Washington airport, Wings for Christ is made up of airline pilots, mechanics and others helping to answer this call. Through donated aircraft, facilities and volunteer staff, costs are kept extremely low. Flight Training Director Tom Moser is a former Missionary Pilot in Honduras with Mercy Air, and a flight instructor at the Cornerstone University School of Missionary Aviation in Grand Rapids, MI. After returning from the mission field, Tom served as an air taxi pilot in remote areas in Alaska, Regional Airline pilot, and is now a B747 pilot with an international cargo airline.

Directing the A/P Apprenticeship training program is Lonnie Good; Lonnie is a veteran of the original Wings for Christ in Texas, and is the founder of the Northwest chapter. Lonnie brings many years of experience to the organization, and currently operates a business engaged in major aircraft structural repairs, specializing in wings. Students will gain valuable insight from his knowledge and experience.

Students training at Wings for Christ can expect to pay only a small percentage of the normal cost offlight training, and are also assisted with housing and raising missions support. Several families in the area have made housing available to missions students at little or no cost, and students are also assisted in the raising of support as full time missionaries during training.

A limited number of students can be accepted to the program; students are asked to have a recommendation from a missions sending organization or church. For more information, contact Tom Moser at 509-264-4093, tjmoser@aol.com or, www.wingsforchrist.com

I am a commercial pilot with instrument and multi-engine ratings. I have approx.1700+ hrs. Do you know of any organization in need of my services in the mission field? Thank-you R. John Charette

Well, I'm not with IAMA or Wings for Christ, but I can tell you that many mission organizations are in need of pilots. The MAF is a good start, and I know that they do at times accept pilots without mechanics' licenses. The best thing you can do is visit the websites for the member agencies on IAMA's homepage, or the partners under the about menu on Spokane Turbine Center's website. Get their contact info and give them a call! Many of the agencies are in need of capable willing servants for the mission field. Get on the horn and ask them how you can serve them, so far I've not found a wrong phone number!
