Get out your pencils and mark a few dates on your new 2011 calendar. On May 18-20 LeTourneau University will host this year’s IAMA Annual Conference at their campus in Longview, Texas. We are planning two days of optional tutorial workshops that would be available the days preceding the conference, so you might want to mark out May 16 and 17, too.

As things are shaping up, you can expect pre-conference tutorials on Safety Officer training, aerodynamics, Garmin G1000 training, and advanced maintenance. Other ideas are also on the table to be announced later. The conference itself will feature presentations from Mission Safety International, Spokane Turbine Center, Quest, the IAMA Web Portal and others. Other arrangements such as speakers and schedules are still being worked on.

If you have an idea for a presentation that would benefit IAMA members, please contact Jon Egeler at jegeler@msisafety.org.

Wives are welcome at all the main conference sessions. They will enjoy the special speakers and the banquet on Thursday evening, and a planned ladies’ day outing.

This will be a good time to get to know the new IAMA Executive Director, Michael Stroh. Conference is also a good place to get updates from other ministries involved in the world of missionary aviation. You can network with co-laborers who you may not get to see otherwise.

Remember that this is also the time when all full members may participate in the annual IAMA Business Meeting. You will be selecting the new board members and officers and voting on the budget. Please plan to send some representatives from your organization to this important meeting.
