MMS Aviation

MMS Aviation prepares people and planes for worldwide mission service. People are prepared to serve as missionary airplane mechanics through a thirty-month aviation maintenance apprenticeship program. Over the course of the program, each apprentice logs a minimum of 4,800 hours of hands-on experience performing the actual maintenance, modification, and repair of missionary aircraft from ministries all over the world. Because MMS is a full-time faith-based mission, apprentices are also introduced to the non-technical realities of mission service and the challenges of full-time ministry.

In special situations where a broken airplane can’t be flown, trailered, or shipped to our facility in Coshocton, OH, MMS will send a “Rapid Response Team” of mechanics to the airplane.

Since 1975, MMS has provided maintenance services to 96 different ministries, placed 64 graduates in field service, sent 128 Rapid Response teams to locations around the world, and performed more than 475 major repairs and restorations of missionary aircraft. A unique part of our ministry is that we do not charge mission organizations for our labor.

In 2010, MMS mechanics and apprentices worked on 31 aircraft from 15 different ministries and invested over 11,000 maintenance man-hours in mission aircraft repair, overhaul, and modification. Currently, MMS has 14 families serving as core staff and there are 5 apprentice families in the program.

San Diego Christian College

San Diego Christian College’s degree program in Aviation combines flight training with a unique academic course of study, enabling the student to build the skills necessary to attain a career in professional aviation while gaining a solid foundation in biblical knowledge.
Our program has a commitment to having our students serve Christ–whether missionary, military, or commercial aviation. While earning their degree, students will receive their Private Pilot Certificate, Instrument RatingCommercial Pilot Certificate, and Certified Flight Instructor Certificate. We have options for additional ratings in multi-engine and turbine transition (Kodiak through Spokane Turbine Center). We are located in Santee CA, near San Diego, with excellent flying weather at our base airport – Gillespie Field (KSEE).
Our flight program is small enough to maintain personal accountability and strong camaraderie. Most of our instructors are graduates of our program gaining experience as they build flight hours. Through our flight training provider, SAA Int’l, we have 16 aircraft available including 172, 172RG, Beech Duchess Precision Flight Control AATD simulators as well as a full-motion REDBIRD FMX AATD flight simulator to enhance training.
Our Flight Team competes in NIFA Region 2 and has won bids to the National SAFECON championships for 7 of the past 8 years. Our pilots raise their own funds for competition and fly their planes cross-country to compete. Flight Team embodies the competitive spirit and further refines the precision flying skills required in missionary, military or commercial aviation careers. Our primary focus is developing pilots for the mission field.
Our goal is to create godly, christian pilots with solid stick and rudder skills capable of spreading the gospel wherever God calls them in the aviation industry.

Agape Flights Inc.

Agape Flights Inc. is a Christian aviation ministry transporting continuous and critical supplies to over 300 missionaries, their families and their missions throughout Haiti, the Dominican Republic, and the Bahamas. Agape is committed to sharing the good news of Jesus Christ through the missionaries it serves.
Our purpose is scripturally aligned with our mission statement where the apostle Paul gives us a clear picture of God’s desire for us to “supply the needs of the saints.” For the ministry of this service is not only supplying the needs of saints, but is also overflowing in many acts of thanksgiving to God. 2 Corinthians 9:12. With that clear mandate, we are committed to continuous and critical support of our missionaries, their families and their unique missions.

Nearly thirteen million people live in the areas regularly reached by Agape’s flights to Haiti, the Dominican Republic and the Bahamas. The critical supplies transported to over 300 missionaries, their families, and their missions are used to change lives, one person at a time. Each year, Agape Flights touches the lives of over one million men, women, and children through its affiliated missionaries who provide clean water, community health, education, evangelism, medical services, micro enterprise, orphan care, and vocational training.

JAARS

JAARS exists to make Bible translation and language development possible, especially in the most remote and difficult places on earth. Since 1948, we’ve provided logistical solutions and equipment to help linguists and translators work effectively in off-the-grid locations.

In particular, our focus is in four areas: transportation, technology, media, and training. Relative to missionary aviation, we provide partners like SIL and affiliates of the Wycliffe Global Alliance with aircraft, pilot and mechanic training, operating and safety standards, field operating support, parts supply, research & development, and more. We operate from the 550-acre JAARS Center and Townsend Field in North Carolina, conducting training at our own airport and a range of landing strips here and in the North Carolina mountains. Our aviation staff is involved in recruiting, training, FBO management, commercial repairs, training fleet maintenance, field needs assessment, acquisition and preparation of aircraft for global partners, and more.

Please visit JAARS for more information about aviation initiatives, current field projects, staffing needs, opportunities to engage with JAARS, and the wide range of non-aviation solutions we provide to our mission partners.

Missionary Safety International

Missionary Aviation is not for the faint of heart. Flying in remote areas of the world helping to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ requires years of training and a heart full of devotion. Yet, in spite of the dedication and professionalism of most aviation staff, there are still far too many accidents robbing missions of their effectiveness.

Pilots for Christ International

As members of Pilots for Christ, International (PCI), we acknowledge Jesus Christ to be both true God and true man. We accept Him as our personal Savior, and Savior of the world. In gratitude to Almighty God for the gift of flight, we endeavor to use our interest in aviation to promote His Gospel throughout the international aviation community, in particular, and the world in general, through service.

We will use only honest and ethical means in serving those in need. We provide our services free of charge to any person in need, regardless of their race, religion, or ethnic identity.

Our areas of service are:

  • Counsel and instruct youth groups about flying
  • Fly and drive missions of mercy
    • Transport patients, relatives, and supplies
    • Transport ministers to their mission stations
    • Transport anyone with an appropriate travel need
  • Witness at air shows, airports, and in our everyday lives
  • Foster Christian fellowship at meetings, at or near airports
  • Distribute tracts and Bibles free of charge at air shows and airport
  • Providing ground transportation where necessary and appropriat
To further these ends, chapters are recognized by the International Headquarters to function in specific geographical locations. Each chapter self-monitors, so that flight standards equal or exceed FAA requirements. Members are obliged to conform to the above principles.

The true strength lies in our chapters. One person working alone can do many things in His name, but a chapter working together can accomplish miracles in His name. PCI has many chapters, and new ones are forming. If you have a chapter in your area, get active in it. If you don’t have a chapter in your area, we will be more than happy to help you start one. It isn’t hard.
